You all will be familiar with the ‘book clubs’ formed at your school and college, where a group of students are tasked to read a book and then share their views and insights on it. These book clubs serve as a great source of learning about books, comparing and sharing one’s understanding and getting new ideas.

However, as most schools are closed these days, you can still enjoy a book club from the comfort of your home at www.bookclubforkids.org — a site where you can listen to the podcasts on books, their authors’ interviews and celebrity readings.

Bookclubforkids is an amazing site with a huge collection of podcasts (an episodic series of spoken words’ digital audio files) on various interesting books for kids. Every week, the site uploads a new book, a new 20-minutes podcast with a discussion on a book along with its author’s interview and a celebrity reading.

In addition to the podcasts, this site offers a variety of information for students and educators and parents.

The site has four main categories apart from the usual ones, like the intro and information for parents and teachers. These four categories are ‘Books we love’ with a long list of fantastic books for young readers. Then, ‘The episodes’, with the list of podcasts on the books described in the previous category.

The third is the ‘Curriculum’ category, which gives you an option to go through those book’s synopsis comprehension, discussion questions, quiz, tips, vocabulary etc., in a pdf file. The fourth main category is ‘Writers on writings’, which showcases the authors of the books discussing their writing, giving tips and insights into their books.

Overall, the site is very useful and you can learn how to improve public speaking skills, learn about the author’s techniques and tips, and discover how to share informative book reports.

Moreover, the podcasts also help you to learn how to make your very own podcast on your favourite book.

The host and executive producer of the Book Club for Kids is Kitty Felde — an award-winning public radio journalist, writer of kids’ books and various plays that are produced around the world.

So what are you waiting for? Expand your knowledge by listening to the podcasts on various wonderful books for young readers at https://www.bookclubforkids.org/
