LAHORE: A woman allegedly set ablaze by her husband in Harbanspura succumbed to her burns on Sunday.
Police said Guriya Bibi, a mother of three, was having problems with her husband Shehzad, a drug addict.
The suspect used to beat his wife over minor issues. On Sunday, he exchanged harsh words with Guriya over some issue. He went out of the house and later came with a petrol bottle. He sprinkled it on Guriya and set her on fire. The victim suffered critical burn injuries and was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital where she could not survive.
Police registered the murder case on the complaint of the victim’s family against Shehzad who was arrested in the evening.
In another incident, a man was allegedly killed by his opponent over enmity at Kahna.
Police said Arslan, a proclaimed offender in several robbery cases, was standing outside his house when two motorcyclists approached him. They opened fire at Arslan who suffered critical injuries. The suspect fled the scene. Arslan was shifted to hospital where he could not survive.
Police shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy and registered a case on complaint of the victim’s family.
The investigating officer said the initial investigation had revealed that the suspect was killed over enmity.
