QUETTA: Four female teachers were injured when armed men opened fire on their school van in Mastung district on Saturday.

Officials said the incident took place in the Paringabad area, some 20km from Mastung town.

Unidentified masked motorcyclists attacked the van when the teachers were on their way back home in Quetta from their duty.

Levies Force officials confirmed four teachers were injured.

Deputy Commissioner of Mastung Ilyas Kibzai said: “There were 11 teachers in the van. When the van was near old railway crossing Dasht Baba, it came under fire.”

He said the injured included Ms Sadia, Ms Shaista and Ms Shakeela. They were employed at Government Girls School Killi Tiri, he said.

No arrest was reported.
