LAHORE: A young man allegedly strangled his sister for contracting marriage with a man of her choice at Niaz Beg village.

Komal had contracted a court marriage some nine months back against the will of her family. Her brother, Ali Haq, convinced her to visit her parents. When she reached home on Friday, he strangled her and fled, said a police official of Hanjarwal said.

The body was sent to the city morgue for autopsy.

In another incident, a woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her home in Manawan.

Police said Sumaira Bibi had strained relations with her in-laws who would humiliate her over petty issues.
