CONFLICT RESOLUTION: The nation is apparently divided on all fronts, but this problem has never been tackled wisely. Adopting the tools of dialogue and deliberation to avoid or resolve a conflict creates a more conducive environment, makes us capable of handling internal and external threats, and ensures economic and political stability. It is hoped that good sense will prevail among the stakeholders and they will value national interests and solidarity over their personal gains.

GROWING POPULATION: Despite having bumper crops, the government has hinted at the possibility of importing wheat for the growing population. It is surprising that no one talked about the need to bring the population growth under control. Food security, poverty eradication, quality education, healthcare, safe water and all other matters are directly related to population management.

RE-NAMING COMPENSATION: After every unfortunate accident, such as a train collision or a plane crash, or a loss of life in the line of duty, the government announces ‘compensation’ money for the victims’ family. No amount of money can ever be sufficient to compensate a loss of life. I suggest that the compensation amount should be called ‘family support money’ because the affected families need it to manage affairs in their difficult time.

POOR TEACHERS: The Idara-i-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA), is a public trust working to promote education in the country. There are nearly 5.6 million children under the supervision of 358,958 teachers and trainers at 60,115 schools across the country. However, the trust pays only Rs5,000-10,000 to its teachers which is lower than even the designated minimum wage. The government is requested to pay heed to the concerns of ITA teachers and ensure competitive salaries for the teaching staff.
