CHITRAL: A teacher of a government primary school was suspended and a case registered against him when mother of his student lodged a complaint of corporal punishment against him in Purgal village of Sheshi Koh valley.
Police told this correspondent that Shahina Bibi told them that her son Hamza enrolled in class-1 returned from his school with injuries on his ear as he had been allegedly beaten by his teacher Hameedul Hassan.
The police lodged a case against the teacher, but he was yet to be arrested as he had obtained bail before arrest from a local court.
Meanwhile, district education officer (male), Lower Chitral, suspended the teacher on the recommendation of sub-divisional education officer, Drosh. He has also formed a committee to probe the incident.
CHINESE NATIONAL EMBRACES ISLAM: A Chinese national employed in a mining company based in Kushum area of Upper Chitral embraced Islam and tied the knot with his Kashmiri colleague.
Sources told this correspondent that a Chinese national, Zhuhengshu, employed in the Xinhai mining company was named as Mohammad Muawiya after he converted to Islam. He married a Kashmiri woman, Iqra Amjad Rashid, working in the same company, they said.
The marriage ceremony was held in the village where Maulana Shamsheruddin performed the rituals of conversion of the Chinese national to Islam before solemnising his marriage with the woman.
