TAXILA: Around 300,000 children will be administered polio vaccines across Attock district during a five days campaign being launched from June 7.

This was stated by health authorities at a meeting held to review arrangements for the campaign at the deputy commissioner office on Thursday.

The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh.

The health officials said as many as 1,100 teams have been deployed at all entry and exit points of the city, bus stands, railway stations, hospitals and health centres.

They further informed the participants that as many as 100 fixed teams and 35 transit teams have been constituted. Representatives of the World Health Organisation on this occasion have informed that Punjab reported 14 polio cases in 2020 so far.

Deputy Commissioner directed the teams of health department to go door to door during the campaign and achieve 100 per cent target.

The deputy commissioner said teams of the health department should perform their duties diligently during the last two days of the campaign and no child should remain without vaccine drops. He said that guest children should also have 100 per cent coverage even if they belonged to any area. He urged the Assistant Commissioner and Secretary district road transport authority (RTA) to visit the general bus stand regularly and closely monitor the campaign.
