KOHAT: The residents have complained that pushcart owners have again occupied the Jail Road outside the Sasta bazaar and the chicken market, causing traffic congestion.

They said traffic remained jammed for hours, but the traffic wardens and the tehsil municipal administration officials failed to take any action against the encroachers.

They said hundreds of handcarts had come up on the Jail Road without any fear of the enforcement officer of the tehsil municipal administration or the traffic wardens.

They said the handcarts had occupied the road by several feet from both sides.

They demanded that handcart owners should be asked to do business inside the space specified for the sasta bazaar as the market only operated during Ramazan.

In a separate development, a man shot dead his married sister, who had come from Karachi to celebrate Eid with her family in Darsha Khel area of Gumbat tehsil on Monday.

The victim’s mother told the police that her daughter was sleeping in a room when they heard gunshots. She said the victim was found lying in a pool of blood in the room. She told the police that her son namely Abdullah ran away after killing his sister.

The police registered a case and launched an operation for arrest of the accused. They said the reason behind the murder could not be ascertained.
