ISLAMABAD: Six people died after contracting Covid-19 and 198 new cases emerged in Islamabad and Rawalpindi district.

Positivity ratio in the capital was recorded at 2.8pc and 526 patients reportedly recovered from the disease.

Officials of the capital administration said death of a female patient was reported in the age group of 30-39 while a male patient in the age group of 60-69 succumbed to the virus. They were residents of G-6 and Kirpa.

During the last 24 hours 5,275 tests were conducted in the capital and results of 148 people came back positive, they said. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 80,927 residents of Islamabad have contracted the virus, the officials said, adding that out of the total 73,743 people recovered.

On the other hand, 50 people tested positive for Covid-19 and four fell victim to the virus in different parts of the district.

The deceased were identified as Rehana Kasur, 50, resident of Range Road, who was brought to Poly Clinic on May 27, Sadaf Khaliq, 46, resident of Bakra Mandi, who arrived at Fauji Foundation Hospital on May 27, Mohammad Dilshad, 70, resident of Murree, who was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on May 27 and Mobeen Suhail, 81, from Satellite Town, who was brought to Holy Family Hospital on May 27.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 955 active patients. As many as 200 patients are in hospitals, including 40 who arrived from other districts, and 755 patients are home isolated.

A total of 735 patients are waiting for the results of their Covid-19 serology. Of the new patients, 25 are from the garrison city - nine from cantonment, 11 from Potohar Town and 15 from Rawal Town.

One patient each arrived from Gujar Khan, Kahuta and Kotli Sattian while one patient each was reported from Murree, Azad Kashmir, Attock and Haripur, and six from Taxila.

As many as 19 patients are admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 17 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 27 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), 29 in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH), three in Hearts International Hospital, four patients are in Bilal Hospital and one is in Begum Akhter Rukhsana Hospital.

There are five patients on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 56 are on oxygen support and 39 are stable.
