ISLAMABAD: A suspect was killed while three others escaped after an encounter with the police in Islamabad, police said.

A case has been registered at Golra police station under sections 324, 353, 186, and 34 of Pakistan Penal Code along with sections 13 and 20 of Arms Ordinance in response to the complaint lodged by Sub-inspector Saqib Mehmood.

The section of murder was not included in the FIR, till the filing of this report.

A police team armed with weapons had set up at picket at Shah Allahdita Road in E-12 for snap checking. Around 12:25am four persons riding on two motorcycles appeared on the road from Dharik Mohri.

On suspicion the police team signaled them to stop. In response the riders stopped at some distance away from the picket and all the four riders started indiscriminate firing at the police team.

They also made an attempt to escape from the spot, however, one of the riders fell from the motorcycle. The rider who fell from the motorcycle ran towards the nearby nullah, resorting to firing on the police.

The three other riders succeeded in escaping towards Sikanderabad on motorcycles. The police team took cover under a ditch adjacent to the road, and resorted to firing in the air in self defense.

Later the police team found an injured lying on the road and overpowered him. The police recovered a pistol from him and shortly removed bullet and magazine.

Later the suspect was shifted to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
