KARACHI: Prominent gynaecologist Dr Aijaz Fatima, founder of Ziauddin Hospital and mother of PPP leader and former federal minister Dr Asim Husain, passed away here on Thursday at age 92, according to the family.

She had been unwell and was under treatment at Ziauddin Hospital North campus for the last several days.

She left behind two sons and two daughters.

Dr Aijaz Fatima was the youngest daughter of Sir Dr Ziauddin Ahmed. She had laid the foundation of Ziauddin Hospital in Nazimabad in 1952.

Her funeral procession would leave from her residence in North Nazimabad Block-F (F-120) at 12 noon on Friday (today) while her funeral prayer would take place at Zia Jamia Masjid located inside Ziauddin University link road campus. She would be laid to rest there.
