SWABI: The seven-hour suspension of power supply to Shahmansoor Township resulted in a sleepless night for the residents on Saturday.

The supply was suspended to the entire township at 7pm soon after a speedy car hit an electricity pole of the main transmission line. Two people, identified as Ismail Khan and Rashid Umar, were also injured in the incident.

Majority of the people in the township stayed on rooftops and waited for resumption of power supply while children and the elderly suffered a lot because of mosquito bites.

When contacted, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company’s officials told this correspondent that their staff was immediately called who made serious efforts and succeeded to restore the power supply to the township at 2am on Sunday.

KILLED: One Obaidullah Khan, 22, drowned while bathing in the Indus River near Sher Zaman Sher picnic point here on Sunday.

His body was recovered by the Rescue 1122 team and handed over to his family for burial.

In Maini village, Rahimdullah was allegedly attacked by his father with a spade and killed him on the spot after exchanging hot words over a trivial issue.

Meanwhile, six people were injured in different incidents on Sunday. One Rashid Khan, 24, was injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on him in Kalu Khan village. He was taken to the DHQ hospital, Mardan.

In another incident, Zakariya Khan,14, Mohammad Sadiq, 23, and a woman were injured when a motorcycle collided with an auto-rickshaw on Jalala Road in Shewa village. Asim Khan was injured when he was hit by a motorcycle in Parmuli village. In a similar incident, Abdullah, 28, was injured in Doubian village.
