PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party has claimed the government’s failed economic policies have resulted in the menace of beggary and crimes in the society.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, PPP provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan said the federal government had failed to check increasing prices of essential commodities.

The government, he said had made tall claims to provide relief to the poor but it failed to fulfill the commitments. He said even in Ramazan the poor faced multiple problems due to a lack of income sources.

Mr Humayun Khan said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government was unable to find any reasonable solution to the price hike.

The PPP leader said restrictions to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic had further made lives of citizens miserable.

He said temporary arrangements for distribution of free food among people was not a solution to the longstanding problems and that it was the government’s duty to find permanent solution to the financial issues facing the people.

He said instead of focusing its attention on tackling real issues the government was busy ‘victimising’ the opposition parties’ leaders.

He said if the government were really sincere in holding the corrupt people accountable it would have arrested the people facing corruption charges in Malam Jabba, BRT, sugar, wheat flour and petrol scams.

Humayun Khan said the PPP would devise a protest plan to raise voice against the faulty policies of the government.
