Scholarly attitude

THERE is a common perception in our universities that all responsibility is on the students rather than the teachers for any good or bad thing happening, which puts an extra onus on the learners. This notion, ironically, exempts the teacher entirely of an activity which is supposedly bilateral and involves active participation of both parties.

However, such notions are inimical to any progress. Teachers in the PhD classes are unable to deliver their lectures clearly, but flaunt their foreign doctorates when tough questions are put to them. The question is: what is the utility of a fancy, foreign degree if one is not able to clear the confusion of students and give them the knowledge they are trying to seek.

It is time the government set up a system of holding teh facultyaccountable. Also, tests must be conducted while inducting teachers. Only then will the education system work efficiently.
