KARACHI: A sessions court on Tuesday sentenced a man to six years in prison in a drug peddling case.

The court found accused Haji guilty of possessing 1.01kg of charas in July 2020.

The additional district and sessions judge (South) also imposed a fine of Rs7,000 on the convict.

State prosecutor Ghulam Mustafa said that the a patrolling team of the Anti-Narcotics Force had arrested the accused and recovered the narcotics wrapped in three packets from his possession.

He further said that there was sufficient ocular and chemical evidence to establish the charge against the accused and pleaded to punish him strictly according to the law.

On the other hand, the accused had pleaded innocence.

A case was registered at the SITE police station on behalf of the state.
