
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has closed down schools in several districts due to the current coronavirus situation.
In a notification, the provincial education department said that educational institutions will be closed down in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mohmand, Khyber, Mardan, Swabi, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Malakand, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Bajaur, Upper Chitral, Lower Chitral, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Batagram, Lower Kohistan, Kohat, Kurram, Karak, Bannu, North Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan.
"All public and private educational institutions (primary/middle/high and higher secondary schools) including cadet colleges, model schools, madrassahs, academies and tuition centres are hereby closed till further orders," the notification said.
"Districts where educational institutions have not been closed because of the Covid-19 situation shall continue to hold all classes as per standing instructions/observance of SOPs already notified.
"The Covid-19 situation is being monitored on a regular basis and the aforementioned instructions will be reviewed in consultation with provincial health authorities and the NCOC," it said.
