GWADAR: The vice chancellor of Turbat University, Prof Dr Jan Mohammad, has said that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with other universities and organisations would have far-reaching impact on youth development in the field of Information Technology and in setting up of their businesses for their economic prosperity and stability.

The vice chancellor said that besides increasing the knowledge and skills of students, the MoU would open new vistas of opportunities for empowering the youth across the region.

The MoU was signed at the Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS), Uthal, on Thursday between the University of Turbat, National Freelance Training Programme, Punjab Information Technology Board, LUAWMS Uthal and University of Balochistan (UoB), Quetta.

Dr Jan Mohammad, LUAWMS vice chancellor Prof Dr Dost Mohammad Baloch, UoB pro VC Dr Saud Taj, Science and Technology Secretary Roshan Ali Sheikh, NFTP Programme Officer Mohammad Mamnoon, PITB Joint Director Hammad bin Abdul Khaliq, LUAWMS dean faculty of social sciences and management Dr Manzoor Ahmed, UoT’s director ORIC Dr Ghulam Jan, UoB’s director ORIC Dr Waheed Noor and other officers were present on the occasion.

The vice chancellors of partner universities and heads of institutions signed the MoU.

Prof Jan Mohammad said: “We are committed to investing in our students.”

This initiative, he added, would help reduce unemployment and disparity in this part of the country.

“We are working on a comprehensive programme for connecting our university with industries and other national and international institutes,” he said.
