SWABI: Radio broadcaster, reporter and poet Nawab Ali Khan Yousafzai, who passed away due to protracted illness, was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Doubian village late on Monday night, his family members said.

Mr Yousafzai had performed duty as a reporter in India during the 1965 war between India and Pakistan.

Later, he worked in Radio Pakistan at different positions. He was also a poet.

During the peak of the war, he had played a great role in updating the countrymen about the developments on the battlefield in a period when the major source of information was radio in the country.

Journalists and politicians poured condolence messages on his sad demise. They lauded his role during the war.

“In analysis and professionalism he was matchless, and his critical observation and views during the war are still echoing in my mind,” said senior journalist Haji Wali Mohammad.

Mediapersons, politicians and literary figures said he was a true reservoir of knowledge, wisdom, affection, wit and warmth, and termed his death an irreparable loss for the country.

The deceased had also remained the district Zakat committee chairman.

He was father of Radio Pakistan, Peshawar manager Farhad Anwar Yousafzai and Ishan Anwar Yousafzai, uncle of Mohammad Zaeem Khan, former leaf manager of Philips Morris International Pakistan, and journalist Atif Khan Yousafzai.
