LARKANA: Frequency of coronavirus cases in Larkana continued to multiply over the last few days and one of the patients died on Monday in the Covid-19 intensive care unit (ICU) established at the Chandka Medical College Teaching Hospital.

Still 15 more patients inflicted with the virus are admitted in the unit, confirmed the ICU doctor in charge. “The third wave of the coronavirus is lethal,” he said, adding that the treatment mechanism applied in the second wave was quite effective, but in the third wave, it was not giving encouraging results.

“Patients arrive very late at the unit which diminishes their chances of survival,” he said, and strongly advised people to avoid going into crowds and visiting markets. They must wear face masks, ensure washing hands with sanitisers and maintain social distancing, he stressed.

Reports from Naudero said that three class-IX students of the Govt Boys Higher Secondary School were diagnosed to be Covid-19 positive.

District health officials collected samples of around 200 students of the school and the eventual test found three of them positive for the virus, an employee of the school told local reporters.
