LAHORE: Pakistan’s bowling coach Waqar Younis will not be available for Pakistan’s upcoming T20 and Test series in Zimbabwe, starting from April 21, due to the surgery of his wife in Australia, scheduled after the month of Ramazan.

According to a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman, as Waqar has to spend a 14-day quarantine period before entering Australia, he is leaving well before the surgery.

Waqar, 49, was scheduled to leave Zimbabwe on Monday to join his family in Australia.

Earlier, Waqar also left Pakistan in New Zealand to miss out the second Test there in December last year to spend some time with his family as he could not see them at that time for a long period of six months due to Covid-19-related restrictions.

The Pakistan squad reached Zimbabwe after a successful tour of South Africa where the Babar Azam-led team won the three-match ODI series 2-1 and a four-game T20 International rubber 3-1.
