RAWALPINDI: In an effort to reinforce public confidence in law enforcement, police and Rangers carried out a flag march in the city on Sunday.

On the other hand, the district administration impounded several freight shipping containers and placed them on entry points of the city and on Murree road to block roads, if needed.

The flag march, led by Senior Superintendent of Police Operations Rana Shoaib Mehmood, started from the Police Lines Headquarters, passed through different parts of the city via Ammar Chowk, Rawal Road, Murree Road, Faizabad and returned to Murree Road.

The police, Elite Force commandos, Rangers, traffic police squads participated in the flag march, aimed at showing commitment towards law enforcement to ensure foolproof security in the city.

A police spokesman said the police had been fully prepared to protect the lives and property of citizens and would be using all tactics to ensure the protection of public property. He said nobody would be allowed to violate the law and challenge law enforcement agencies.

In Rawalpindi, Rangers and police have been deployed at Liaquat Bagh Chwok, Faizabad and Shamasabad.

Regional Police Officer Amir Ahmer on Sunday visited Liaquat Bagh and other areas and reviewed security arrangements put in place by the police.

The RPO was accompanied by the SSP operations, SP CIA and other senior police officers during his visit. He urged police officers to ensure implementation of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) and asked them to remain vigilant and keep themselves alert to cope with any untoward situation.
