Pakistan has reported 118 coronavirus fatalities during the last 24 hours, more than 100 deaths for the third straight day.

A day earlier, the country had reported 135 deaths, the highest number of deaths reported since June 2020 and the highest so far this year.

According to the health ministry, 64,685 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours after which 5,395 people tested positive. The national positivity rate is 8.34 per cent. The total number of cases in the country is 739,818 and the death toll is 15,872.

Punjab recorded the most deaths during the last 24 hours at 68 followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 29.

Region-wise breakdown of cases and deaths recorded:

  • Punjab: 2,870 cases, 68 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 1,245 cases, 29 deaths
  • Islamabad: 575 cases, 6 deaths
  • Sindh: 470 cases, 3 deaths
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 141 cases, 10 deaths
  • Balochistan: 81 cases, 2 deaths
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 13 cases
