LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly has been moved to ensure supplies of wheat flour and sugar at model bazaars.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lawmaker Hina Pervaiz Butt submitted a resolution to the assembly secretariat here on Monday criticising the Punjab government for what, she says, staging a drama for the provision of cheap sugar at model bazaars.

She says the consumers are allowed to purchase only one packet of one kg sugar at Rs65 per kg from the bazaars, while the sweetener as well as wheat flour are missing from the facilities from day one.

She claims that a large number of consumers returned home empty handed for non-availability of the two commodities at the bazaars.

She demands through the resolution sufficient supplies of flour and sugar at the facilities by giving priority to provision of quality commodities to consumers during Ramazan.

Sumera Komal, another PML-N MPA, has submitted a resolution criticising the use of a special plane by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi for visiting Germany.

She recalls that Imran Khan, before coming into power, had been a critic of VVIP culture and protocol and pledging to use commercial flights for foreign tours as prime minister. But, all these claims are exposed by the use of a special aircraft by Mr Qureshi for his foreign trip, she concludes.
