ISLAMABAD: Dr Nabi Bakhsh Baloch was not just a great intellectual of Sindh but the entire subcontinent, prominent educationist Prof Fateh Mohammad Malik said on Wednesday.

He was speaking to participants of an online international literary seminar organised by the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) to observe the 10thdeath anniversary of renowned historian, linguist, researcher, educationist and intellectual Dr Baloch.

Prof Malik highlighted that Dr Baloch has left a valuable imprint on literature and culture. In his introductory remarks, PAL Chairman Dr Yousuf Kushk said Dr Baloch gained worldwide fame for his scholarly and research services. “His literary services are not limited to the Sindhi language but extend to Urdu, English, Persian, Balochi and Seraiki,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that Dr Baloch rendered outstanding services in the field of science and research. He documented the history of Sindh in works like Fathnama-i-Sindh or Chachnama, Tarikh Masoomi and Tohfat-ul-Kalam. He put together a comprehensive five volume Sindhi dictionary.
