Quetta customs collects Rs5.4bn in 9MFY21

QUETTA: The Model Cus­toms Collectorate (App­r­­a­isement) Quetta surpassed its collection target by 46 per cent to Rs5.4 billion in the first nine months of this fiscal year.

Officials said on Tuesday that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had given a target of Rs3.7bn for July-March period of 2020-21.

It collected Rs1.7bn under the head of customs duty during the period under review.

“Preventive Collectorate seized goods worth of Rs9.41 million including around 1,115 non-custom paid vehicles into custody besides around 4 million litres of Iranian diesel/petrol were recovered. Tyres, betel nuts, cloth, cigarettes, auto parts, electronics, medicines worth billions of rupees were also among the confiscated goods.”

The collectorate is effectively monitoring to combat mis-declaration, facilitation of trade through reduction in clearance time, open door policy for redressed of grievances and strict adherence to transparent and merit based decision making.

It also acknowledged the cooperation extended by Quetta and Chaman chamber of commerce and industry to encourage legal trade.
