LAHORE: Justice Muhammad Tariq Abbasi of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday reached the age of superannuation after serving the higher judiciary for seven years.

He was serving in the district judiciary as district & sessions judge when elevated to the bench on Oct 29, 2013.

Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan and other senior judges presented a bouquet to Justice Abbasi in a farewell ceremony held for him.

After the retirement of Justice Abbasi, the LHC is left with 38 judges against the constitutional strength of 60. The LHC had its last batch of seven judges appointed in October 2018.
