ISLAMABAD: As many as 663 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 in the capital whereas two casualties were reported on Friday. The positivity rate was 9.8pc.Officials of the capital administration said a male patient in the 40-49 age group and a female patient aged between 70 and 79 died of the disease. They were residents of G-10 and F-10.

During the last 24 hours, 6,733 tests were conducted. The occupancy rate of beds in hospitals has reached 57pc and that of ventilators 51pc.

They said 146 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 138 in 20-29, 98 in 40-49, 89 in 0-9, 64 each in 10-19 and 50-59, 43 in 60-69, 16 in 70-79 and four in 80 and above. The age group of one patient is not known.

Likewise, 70 cases were reported from Loi Bher, 40 from Bhara Kahu, 38 from G-6, 36 from G-10, 32 each from Tarlai, G-11, 29 from F-11, 28 from G-7, 26 each from I-8, Khanna, 23 from G-9, 20 each from Rawat, I-10, E-11, 19 from Sohan, 17 from Chak Shahzad, 14 from F-10, 13 from G-8, 12 from G-5, 11 each from F-6, Chirrah, nine each from G-13, F-8, eight each from G-15, D-12, seven from F-7, six each from Koral, Kurri, I-9, Kirpa, five from H-12, four each from Alipur, Rawatl Town, Sihala, Model Town, three from F-15, two each from Bari Imam, G-14, E-7, H-8, one each from B-17, F-5, Jhangi Syedan, Tarnol, G-12, I-14, E-8, F-17, Gokina, Pind Begwal, and E-12. The addresses of 18 cases were not known.

Furthermore, Rawalpindi District Health Authority has so far administered 18,812 vaccines to senior citizens since beginning of the vaccination drive a month ago, APP reported.

District Health Officer Rawalpindi (DHO) Dr Jawad Khalid said 26 centres had been established in the district where 10,635 health workers were rendering services.

He said with an addition of 138 more Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours, the total number of cases so far has reached 15,683 and 13,181 of them have been discharged.

During the last 24 hours, nine people also died of the visrus.

At present, 29 confirmed patients are admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 31 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 101 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology, 28 in Fauji Foundation Hospital, three in Rukhsana Memorial Hospital and two in Hearts International Hospital, he said, adding 20 patients were on ventilators in critical condition, 70 were stable and the condition of 104 patients was moderate.

Attock

Attock witnessed the highest ever spike in Covid-19 cases since March 2020 as 52 new cases were reported in the district on Friday.

According to health authorities, this is the highest one day tally of positive cases since the first case was reported in the district in March last year.

According to health authorities, frontline health workers as well as teachers and students of different government institutions are among new victims of the virus.

District Health Authority Chief Executive Dr Jawad Ellahi said 32 of the new patients belonged to Attock city, 10 to Hazro, four to Fatehjang, three to Hassanabdal, two to Jand and one to Pindigheb.

He said the number of active patients in the district also surged to 185 and 183 of them are home isolated and two hospitalised. Five suspected Covid-19 patients are also admitted in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital out of whom three are on ventilators.

Responding to a question, he said the number of suspected cases in the district is 27,671 while screening of 30,923 people has been carried out so far. He said the results of 95 suspected patients of the area are still awaited while 26,056 people tested negative so far across the district. Safe burials of 91 patients were conducted while 1,305 patients recovered from the disease.— Additional reporting by Amjad Iqbal
