Groom booked over teen’s killing in jubilation fire in Kasur

KASUR: Jubilation firing claimed the life of a teenager in Aasa Singhwala village on Sunday.

According to police, 14-year-old Anees along with his cousins was on his way to a local doctor in Aasa Singhwala village to get himself checked.

On the way, they passed by a house where a wedding function was under way and some youths, including Pervez, Tariq and others, were firing in the air in jubilation.

One of the bullets hit Anees in the head, leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to DHQ hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Police lodged a murder case against the groom, Zahid, his brother Pervez and relative Tariq under sections 302, 34 of PPC and 8 of the Punjab Marriage Functions Act 2016 on the complaint of Rozdar Khan, the father of the victim. No arrests had been made so far.

ROBBER CAUGHT: Residents of Bhattan Gorianwala caught a suspected robber on Sunday when he went to a bakery, accusing him of committing a robbery at the shop a few days ago.

The residents beat up the suspect before handing him over to police.

The bakery owner, Saleem, in Bhattan Gorianwala raised an alarm when he saw the suspect in his shop allegedly posing as a customer. Saleem claimed that the suspect along with an accomplice had looted him at gunpoint a few days back.

Police were looking into the matter and hoping to get hold of the entire gang.
