Parbat, Asif qualify for main draw of Hyderabad Gymkhana tennis

HYDERABAD: Asif Bachani of Hyderabad and Parbat Kumar of Karachi earned their places in the main draw of the Hyderabad Gymkhana Pakistan Day Tennis Championship after a 16-player draw of qualifying rounds were held here on Thursday at the newly refurbished tennis courts.

Parbat beat Sheeraz Bhand of Dadu with 8-3 while Asif defeated Nadir Bachani 8-6 in the qualifying round.

Nadir Bachani also earned a place in main draw as lucky looser on the basis of his previous performance.

The main draws were also taken out Thursday according to which, Aqeel Khan is the top seed, Muzamil Murtaza is the second seed, Muhammad Shoaib of KP is the is third seed and Muhammad Abid of Lahore is the fourth seed.

All the top players have already reached Hyderabad and will be seen in action from Friday after 10.00am.

The formal opening ceremony is scheduled to be held at 6.00 pm.

Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah, Secretary Sports Govt of Sindh, will be the chief guest.
