President Dr Arif Alvi and his spouse, Begum Samina Arif Alvi, have received their first Covid-19 vaccination shot at a vaccination centre in Islamabad, according to a statement from the President House.

The president said that while the global elite had broken the line for vaccination, in Pakistan, vaccinations were being administered according to age. He said he had registered himself at 1166 and got vaccinated when details of his appointment arrived.

"The government has created an easy and efficient system of vaccination. Continue [your] caution despite receiving the vaccine."

President Alvi urged observance of Covid-19 standard operating procedures and praised the government for its adoption of smart lockdowns which he said mitigated economic loss.
