ISLAMABAD: Three people lost their lives to Covid-19 while 320 contracted the virus in the federal capital and Rawalpindi district on Wednesday.

As many as 253 people got infected in Islamabad compared to 236 on Tuesday. Two persons had died on Tuesday.

According to the district administration data, two males and one female who died on Wednesday were in the age group of 70-79 while one casualty each was reported in the age groups of 40-49 and 60-69 on Tuesday. Both deceased were females. Two of them were residents of G-9 and one each were from Lohi Bher and I-10.

During the last two days, 112 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 74 in 40-49, 66 in 50-59, 63 in 20-29, 55 in 10-19, 51 in 0-9, 41 in 60-69, 22 in 70-79 and four in 80 and above, the officials said.

Likewise, during the last two days, 70 cases were reported from Lohi Bher, followed by 29 from I-10, 27 each from G-11 and Bhara Kahu, 26 from I-8, 21 from G-13, 19 cases each from F-11, G-9 and Rawat, 18 from G-7, 17 each from G-8 and F-8, 13 each from F-10 and Chak Shahzad, 12 each from G-10 and G-6, 11 each from Khanna, Tarlai and I-9, 10 from E-11, nine each from F-6 and B-17, eight from F-7, seven each from Koral and D-12, six from G-15, five from Kirpa, four from Alipur, three each from G-14, G-5 and Rawal Town, two each from Sohan, Model Town, Sihala, D-17, F-15 and I-11, one each from Chirrah, Bari Imam, E-9, F-17, H-11, Jhangi Syedan, F-16 and Pind Beghwal.

Meanwhile, 67 people tested positive in Rawalpindi district.

A large number of patients were reported from the garrison city alone as 55 cases surfaced in the city and cantonment areas. Other parts of the district recorded 10 patients with six coming from Gujar Khan, two from Kotli Sattian and one each from Kahuta and Taxila.

In Rawalpindi district, there were 549 active patients out of whom 187 were in hospitals and 362 home isolated.

Commissioner retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood told Dawn that there were eight patients on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 34 needed oxygen support and 40 were stable.

He said 18,322 people had tested positive for Covid-19 since March 2020 out of which 799 have died in Rawalpindi Division.
