RAWALPINDI: The district saw four more casualties and another 32 Covid-19 infections on Wednesday as 44 people recovered from the deadly virus and were discharged from hospitals.

Nisar Ahmed, 55, a resident of Raniyal Chakri Road, was brought to Hearts International Hospital on Feb 23 where he died on Wednesday.

Zeenat Saleem, 78, from Satellite Town, passed away in Pims on Tuesday night where she was shifted on Feb 23. Mehfooz Begum, 70, a resident of New Shakrial, also died in Pims on Tuesday night where she had been under treatment since Feb 22.

Raja Pervaiz, 63, was brought to Benazir Bhutto Hospital from Gulraiz Colony on Feb 23 where he died on Wednesday morning.In Rawalpindi, 21 patients arrived in hospitals from Rawalpindi city and cantonment areas, four from Kallar Syedan, two from Gujar Khan and one from Murree. One patient each arrived from Islamabad, Mianwali, Azad Kashmir and Jhelum.

At present, there are 307 active patients in the district with 67 in hospitals and 240 patients isolated at home.

Commissioner retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood told Dawn that seven patients were on ventilator, 35 on oxygen and 25 were stable.

He said 17,573 people have tested positive for Covid-19 since March 2020 out of whom 14,190 were in Rawalpindi, 1,287 in Attock, 1,465 in Jhelum and 631 in Chakwal.

He said 16,371 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering in the four districts while 760 have died in Rawalpindi Division in the last 11 months.
