KARACHI: Following up on its campaign for Karachi and its people, the Jamaat-i-Islami on Tuesday announced a protest demonstration on Feb 28 (Sunday) on New M.A. Jinnah Road and a rally from Quaidabad to Governor House on March 14.

JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters Idara Noor-i-Haq said that the movement of his party for the rights of Karachi was in full swing and it would continue till the realisation of just rights of Karachiites.

‘We will knock on the doors of Governor House, CM House and ask about our rights’

“In connection with our campaign, a rally would be staged in Karachi on March 14 that will march from Quaidabad to Governor House,” he said. “Before that on Sunday, Feb 28, a big demonstration would be staged on New M.A. Jinnah Road. Our fate is decided in the Governor House and Chief Minister House. So we would knock on their doors and ask questions about our rights.”

He said a further course of action would be announced at Governor House. He said the party would approach people from all walks of life and also raise the issues of Karachi on social media.

He said the federal government had increased prices of ghee and cooking oil also. He said horse trading was being done in the name of Senate elections. He said billionaires were making a mockery of democracy and all parties were involved in this shameful act.

He said that the government had commercialised education and it was harming the career of private students in the name of a four-year degree programme.

He demanded that vacancies in Karachi and Urdu universities be filled.

He said during the last five years the federal government had not even completed 50 per cent work on the Green Line project. He asked the rulers to stop mocking citizens in the name of Karachi Circular Railway.

He demanded a fresh census in Karachi and that jobs be given to the youths of the metropolis on a priority basis.
