HARIPUR: The police recovered the charred body of a junk dealer from the oven of a bakery in Khalabat Township and arrested its owner on Tuesday.

Khalabat Township police said that Agha Jan alias Koochi, 42, an Afghan junk trader, had gone missing from his scrap yard in Mohallah Dari Chowk Khalabat Township three days ago.

His family had informed the police about it. Later, the investigation officer arrested Safeer Ahmed, the owner of a confectionary shop, from the same locality.

The suspect, according to the police, confessed that he had shot dead Agha over some financial dispute and burnt his body in the oven of his bakery, while his mobile phone and other belongings were buried in a graveyard.

The preliminary investigation led the police to the oven of his bakery from where the police recovered the burnt remains of the victim’s body on Monday evening and shifted it to the Haripur Trauma Centre.

The police after registering a murder case against the accused obtained his three-day physical remand from the court of a judicial magistrate.
