PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party will take out lantern-carrying processions on Feb 17 in PK-63 Nowshera and NA-45 Kurram constituencies in support of its candidates to attract voters for the Feb 19 by-elections.

According to a statement issued here, ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan has asked the party office-bearers in both the districts to ensure participation of maxim workers wearing red caps and with lanterns, party flags in their hands.

The processions, he said should be taken out at union council level in consultation with the relevant election committees to convey the party message across.

The campaigners would contact the voters with a request to support the ANP contestants.

Besides, the party provincial chief instructed the election bodies to set up camps outside the polling stations to ensure easy access of the voters.

The committees should finalise names of polling agents and other arrangements for the polling day activities.

Mr Aimal Wali urged the people to fulfill their national duty and cast vote in support of the ANP candidates so they could raise voice for rights of their areas. He said ANP was follower of Bacha Khan’s non-violence philosophy and was struggling for Pakhtuns’ unity.

He assured that if elected the ANP lawmakers would represent their respective areas in the parliament in a befitting manner.
