LAHORE: The Old Ravians Union on Sunday elected its new executive committee for the 2021-2023 session here on Sunday in the polls held at the Government College University (GCU).

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jahanzeb Nazir Khan has been elected as the new president of the union, bagging 1,147 votes, while his opponent Rana Asad Ullah got 771 votes.

Syed Tayyab Hussain Rizvi was elected senior vice president with 1,081 votes, while Dr Tanvir Hussain Bhatti and Ms Rabia Afzal Wahla were elected male and female vice presidents, respectively.

Dr Abdul Basit clinched the secretary general slot with overall 1,101 votes, while his opponent Asad Sultan Gondal secured 878 votes.

Muhammad Jahangir Iqbal Khan was elected finance secretary, while Usman Saeed and Dr Kiran Khursheed secured the joint secretaries slots.

Dr Zakraya Butt, M Anwarul Haque, Altaf Ahmad Sukhera, Syed Muhammad Farhad Tirmizi, Sultan Nisar Soraya and Abdur Rehman Babar were elected executive members.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi said on the occasion that the old Ravians should join hands for reviving the glory of the institution.

ORU Chief Election Commissioner retired Justice Farooq Ahmad Sheikh announced the results.
