ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to focus on three most neglected residential sectors having around 30,000 plots.
The decision will exonerate the civic agency from allegation that it has failed in creating residential opportunities for citizens and its sectors remained stalled for decades.CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed on Saturday visited I-14, I-15 and I-16 and directed to expedite the development of these sectors.
It is worth mentioning that I-15 was announced around two decades ago but so far possession of plots has not been given to the allottees. Because of such delays, projects launched by private housing societies have become more credible compared to the stalled sectors of the CDA.
The CDA chairman while talking to Dawn agreed that all the three sectors remained neglected during the past a few decades.
“However, we have completed a connecting road between I-14 and I-16 while streetlights and other facilities are being provided in the area. There are 8,000 to 10,000 plots in I-15 alone but possession of the plots could not be given even after two decades. Now development work is going on and we want to complete it in six months,” he said.
“Moreover, there are also apartments in I-15. Unfortunately, the sector remained stalled for two decades and we are determined to give possession of plots to allottees within six months,” Mr Ahmed said.
According to a statement issued by the CDA, the CDA chairman expressed satisfaction over the development works in I-14, 15 and 16 and issued instructions to expedite the works.
During a visit to I-14, 15 and 16 sectors, he said the infrastructure of the sectors should be completed immediately and streetlights should be installed as soon as possible. He also directed to build modern parks in the sectors so that the citizens who have been allotted plots would start building houses.
During a briefing on the occasion, officers informed him that 35 per cent development work on I-15/3 has been completed while the remaining was also in progress. The sub-sector is to be developed for Rs866.2 million while work is also underway on the road infrastructure.
The chairman was assured that the work would be completed in the next few months and services in the sector would be launched soon. At the same time, construction of underground and overhead tanks has also been started. Tender for I-15/4 has also been awarded with a bid price of Rs580 million while I-15/1 tender has been opened and I-15/2 tender will be issued in a few days.
Meanwhile, the CDA carried out an operation against illegal extension of Sunday Bazaar into the greenbelt of G-10 and G-11 and removed over 100 stalls as well as the GI wire net erected there.
