CHAGAI: People from different walks of life in Nushki on Saturday demanded arrest of the killers of Sami Mengal, a university student.

Mr Mengal was reportedly killed by drug peddlers last year.

Members of civil society, students, teachers and political workers participated in a walk organised by the Baloch Students Action Committee and Nushki Online to mark first death anniversary of Sami Mengal, who was a student of Balochistan University’s Zoology Department.

Addressing the walk participants, Professor Ghulam Dastgir Sabir, Aziz Jamaldini, Ghamkhwar Hayat, Abdul Wajid Mengal, Tayyab Yallanzai and others paid tribute to Sami Mengal for his struggle against widespread business of drugs in Nushki and surrounding areas.

They said drug smugglers killed Sami Mengal in front of his mother. They regretted that despite constant protests culprits had not yet been arrested.

They alleged that the law enforcement agencies were not taking concrete action against drugs sellers, which resulted in growing number of drug addicts in the area.

They urged the government to construct a hospital to treat the addicts in Nushki and surrounding districts.
