LAKKI MARWAT: The syndicate of the University of Lakki Marwat has devised a policy against sexual harassment on its campuses, and vowed to ensure its strict implementation.

In its second meeting on Tuesday, the syndicate also took important decisions with regard to according approval to the rules of business for different bodies and establishment of a departmental audit committee.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Aurangzeb Khan presided over the meeting, with its members, including Bacha Khan University Charsada VC Dr Fazal Rahim Marwat, Justice retired Mohammad Younas Thaheem, additional secretary higher education Ihsanullah, deputy secretary finance Farooq Ahmad and deputy secretary establishment Ahmad Kamal in attendance.

The participants endorsed the decisions taken in the first meeting, and also approved the minutes of the meetings of the academic council.

Runaway prisoner held: Police arrested a runaway prisoner of the DI Khan jail during a raid in Manzar Faqeer village here on Tuesday.

An official said Sahib Khan had fled when militants attacked the Dera prison in July 2013. He said a police party headed by SHO Amir Khan arrested the outlaw during a raid in the rural locality.

The official said the fleeing prisoner had been jailed for 25 years in a murder case.

Also in day, the Bannu district administration destroyed the polythene bags seized during a weeklong drive.

The plastic bags were destroyed by the employees of the Water and Sanitation Services Company under the supervision of additional assistant commissioner Shaukat Ali.

On the occasion, WSSC chief executive Tauqeer Hussain Shah said the polythene bags were the main reason for environmental and health-related problems.
