PPSC scandal

Published January 26, 2021

AS it has already been established that the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) examination papers were sold and arrests of the suspects have been made subsequently, it is now essential to complete the investigation.

As a computer engineer, I want to draw the attention of the relevant agencies to computer security issues. There is a high probability that the papers were stolen using a USB device.

Even in low-security areas, USB ports are disabled and closed, and one cannot use them without the administrator’s permission. Why the access to open the ports was not limited to only a few?

And if USB ports were not closed, it is sheer negligence on the part of the commission’s IT department which should also be held accountable for this crime.
