KARACHI: Digitising key segments of the economy can boost IT exports to $10 billion annually, a report issued by the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) said on Monday.

Based on the chamber’s recommendations for digital economy, the report called for a shift to skill development from academic degrees to ensure productive participation of Pakistani talent in the “new economy” that is attracting capital globally.

Members of the OICCI include some of the best-known IT multinational companies, including IBM, SAP and Teradata. These companies have offered to run an integrated technology training programme for up to half a million certified resources in Pakistan using global courses being run in many advanced countries.
