LAHORE:Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was elected the PML-Q president and Minister for Housing and Works Tariq Bashir Cheema the secretary general unopposed in the intra-party elections here on Saturday.

According to the PML-Q, the election process that started in October across the country at the tehsil level was completed on Saturday at the Pakistan Muslim League House here.

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Kamil Ali Agha were elected unopposed as the party’s president and general secretary in Punjab, respectively.

In Sindh, Saeedul Hassan Mandokhel was elected president and S.R. Nasir general secretary.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, former MNA Mehboobullah Jan was elected president and former provincial minister Wajihuzzaman Khan general secretary. In Gilgit-Baltistan, Asaudllah Khan was elected the president and Asif Ahmad Qureshi general secretary.

In Islamabad, Rizwan Sadiq was elected as the president and Muhammad Jahangir the general secretary. The Central Election Commission was presided over by Advocate Jahangir A. Jhoja.

Chaudhry Shujaat thanked the party members for their trust in him, and asked the provincial organisations to organise the party at every level.

Meanwhile, the Chaudhry brothers expressed grief over the demise of the mother of former president retired Gen Pervez Musharraf.
