QUETTA: The acting deputy commissioner of Qila Abdullah on Friday announced that 10 Levies personnel involved in torturing a young man had been arrested after being suspended.

Zakaullah Durrani said the incident took place at Garing check-post on the Quetta-Chaman Highway in Chaman and disciplinary action had been taken against the Levies personnel concerned.

According to details, a young man, while passing by a check-post of the Levies personnel, mocked at the personnel and started making dog-like sounds. The Levies personnel caught the young man, chained him and made him to act like a dog.

A few days ago a similar incident took place when some young men in a car, while passing through the same check-post, had mocked at the Levies personnel and made dog-like sounds. Their video clip of the act went viral on social media.

According to a statement issued by Levies, the two incidents had nothing to do with each other.

The statement said that on Thursday another man committed a crime and he was caught by the Levies personnel after a chase.
