KARACHI: Half a dozen armed men entered a home in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Thursday, held the family hostage at gunpoint and took away cash, gold and other valuables amounting to Rs10 million, according to the robbery victim and the police.

They added that six suspects all armed with pistols entered the bungalow in Block-3 at around 1.30pm. They took the family hostage at gunpoint and took away Rs5.6m cash and 55 tolas gold.

Mohammed Rafiq, brother of the robbery victim Shafiqullah said that his brother was planning marriage of his daughter and had purchased gold. He believed that it appeared that the suspects knew it and one of the robbers was constantly talking with someone on his mobile phone.

The police have registered an FIR (46/2021) on the complaint of Mohammed Darayafat and launched probe into it.
