KHYBER:The provincial government has deployed a 20-member Rescue 1122 staff at the District Headquarters Hospital, Landi Kotal, along with six ambulances to effectively handle emergencies.

Speaking at a ceremony at the hospital, Rescue 1122 Khyber chief Malik Eshfaq Hussain said the staff deployment with ambulances was part of the provincial health ministry’s programme to equip all the district hospitals with additional ambulances in order to ensure prompt emergency services.

He said the rescue staff would strive to immediately shift the critically-ill and injured persons to hospital from far off localities.

On the occasion, hospital’s MS Dr Nek Dad said the health staffers would extend full support to the rescuers for better and timely treatment of critical patients.

Meanwhile, the protesting Nadra staffers at the Torkham border ended their strike after an assurance by local officials about release of their salaries.
