GUJRANWALA: PML-N leader Mudassar Qayyum Nahra, who was arrested in a land grab case, was released from central jail after the confirmation of his bail.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had registered a case against the former MNA, his brothers MNA Azhar Qayyum Nahra and former district council chairman Mazhar Qayyum Nahra, their father Sultan Nahra, Sanaullah, Zakaullah, patwaris Aarif and Shafique on charges of grabbing 267 kanals of state land.

An ACE team had arrested Mudassar on Dec 18 and sent him to central jail.

On Wednesday, hundreds of PML-N workers had gathered outside the jail to welcome him after being released on bail. A heavy contingent of police was deployed outside the premises.

Talking to the media, Mudassar Nahra alleged that his arrest was a result of political victimisation by the authorities.
