SWABI: Speakers at a function said here on Wednesday that population control in the country was essential for making proper economic planning and achieving the objectives of progress and development.

Local leaders with a background of working in welfare bodies shared their views with the participants of the function organised by a local NGO and put forward their proposals in line with the government’s policy.

The participants said that the government must take into confidence all the stakeholders to avoid complications while enabling the people to follow the official policy to achieve the population control target.

The organisers said their objective was to discuss the needs of the people amid high inflation and find ways to ensure their economic prosperity.

Rohal Amin, who has worked on similar issues in different organisations, said that educating the people about population control was a prerequisite for achieving economic stability.

Shaukat Ali Anjum, national coordinator of Pakistan Workers Federation, said that political and economic stability were inter-linked and people’s support was vital for implementation of the population control policy.

Arif Shah, general secretary of Samajee Behbood Rabita Council, said that targets could be easily achieved when the people were ready to play their due role.
