GUJRANWALA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested former municipal corporation officer of planning Tahir Gujjar and building inspector Sarfaraz Ahmad on Friday in a state land grabbing case.
Former federal minister Ghulam Dastgir Khan, father of MNA Khurram Dastgir Khan, allegedly grabbed one kanal and 10 marlas and constructed a cinema there with the connivance of Gujjar and Sarfraz.
After the state land retrieval, a related case was registered against the PML-N leader and municipal corporation officers. After an inquiry, both MC officials were found guilty of the crime.
An ACE team arrested them in their houses.
The ACE court has granted bail to former federal minister Ghulam Dastgir Khan.
CASE: A police official with his seven accomplices tortured a man and his daughter in Jorian Khalan village and also broke the gate and pillars of his house which were installed on the orders of the Lahore High Court.
The regional police officer took notice of the incident and sought a report. According to reports, police official Waseem Zahid and private person Nazir Ahmad have a dispute over the ownership of a house. A few days back, the LHC handed over the possession of the house to Nazir Ahmad and allowed him to construct pillars and a gate there.
On Friday, Nazir with his daughter Shehnaz Bibi was present at home in Jorian Kalan village when Waseem with his accomplices Idrees, Umar, Ehsan, Zulqarnain, Ameerul Hassan, Rizwan and Sadaqat arrived at the house of Nazir and beat him and his daughter leaving both of them injured. They also vandalised pillars and the gate.
RPO Riaz Nazir Gara sought a report into the incident.
