TAXILA: Attock police on Sunday arrested two persons wanted in two different murder cases in the jurisdictions of Pindigheb and Hazro police stations, respectively.

Talking to media, District Police Officer Khalid Hamdani said Pindigheb police resolved the blind murder case of a cattle farm worker whose body was found on the premises of a farm house. His stepson turned out to be the murderer.

Replying to a question about the motive behind the crime, Mr Hamdani said the victim had married the suspect’s mother and divorced her later, adding that the suspect murdered him to take revenge.

He said the police traced the suspect who confessed to committing the crime during preliminary interrogation.

Furthermore, he said Hazro police arrested a suspect wanted in the murder of Liaquat Ali, a resident of Hameed village, who was stabbed to death near his residence on July 7.

The suspect committed the crime because he thought the victim had stolen his Rs20,000 mobile phone, he said.

Meanwhile, a man identified as Abdullah was robbed at gunpoint by two persons on a motorcycle. The suspects escaped with his mobile phone and cash and later snatched a mobile phone and cash from Bilal Ahsan in the jurisdiction of Taxila police station.

Separately, burglars broke into Hassan Mawiya’s shop, a tailor by profession, and escaped with unstitched and stitched suits worth Rs20,000. In another incident, cash and valuables were stolen from Sadeeq Ahmed’s shop.

In the same police station’s jurisdiction, cash, gold ornaments worth Rs350,000 and prize bonds worth Rs400,000 were stolen from Waheed Afsar’s residence while in Wah police station’s jurisdiction, cash, gold ornaments and other valuables were stolen from Fayyaz Ahmed’s residence.
