PESHAWAR: The district administration on Friday removed 300 hoardings from across the city in its drive against illegal billboards.

A statement issued here said the administration and the Town-4 TMA officials removed several illegal signboards on Kohat and Ring roads, while another team pulled down several illegal structures along the GT Road and the interior city.

Similarly, administrative officers along with Peshawar Development Authority and respective TMA officials led a continued operation in other parts of the city, demolishing scores of illegal and unsafe billboards, banners and streamers in Hayatabad, Pishtakhara, Warsak, Dalazak and University Road areas.

The statement quoted deputy commissioner Mohammad Ali Asghar as saying that mushrooming of illegal billboards across the metropolis presented it not only with a shabby look but were also a potential threat to residents’ lives.

He said the administration would remove all illegally-installed structures to ensure safety of citizens and improve general look of the city.
